awesome window manager

Contents _

History _

I experimented switching from i3 to awesomewm around 2023 but went back to i3 because it was taking too much time to figure out a config that worked. I insisted on using polybar instead of the wibar because polybar was already done. That ended up proving wrong, since a lot of things just didn't work right.

Fast forward to 2026, with the advent of AI, specifically claude, I was able to quickly nail out the remaining pieces in the lua config with the help of claude, which gave me the extra support needed.

Once I decided to drop polybar and switch to wibar, thinks came together quickly.

Missing features

Motivation _

The primary motivation for switching from i3 to awesome was i3 bugs and a key missing feature.

Current Config _
